Effective 30 September 2026

Gnome identifies a plant from a photograph and tells you how hazardous that plant is known to be before anything else. It is information, not permission, and it is for adults aged 18 or over.

Email depthnoteapp@gmail.com. That address is read by the people who build the app. Include the phone or tablet you are using and what you tapped before the problem appeared.

If the app cannot identify a plant

Gnome refuses to guess. When it is not confident, it says so and treats the plant as dangerous — that is the intended behaviour, not a fault. Photograph one plant at a time, filling the frame, in daylight, and try again. Gnome never tells you a plant is safe to eat, smoke or touch, and it never gives a dose.

Subscription, free trial and cancelling

Identification needs an active Gnome Pro subscription, which starts with a 3-day free trial. Payment is taken by the App Store or Google Play, not by us, and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you are not charged.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. That removes your account and everything stored against it on our server, and for Sign in with Apple it also revokes Gnome's access to your Apple ID. It does not cancel a subscription — the stores own that, so cancel it separately using the steps above. You can also ask us to delete an account by emailing depthnoteapp@gmail.com.

What deleting the account does not remove: the results you reported, which were stored without your account and cannot be traced back to you (each is deleted two years after it was sent); the hourly counters that stop one person exhausting the service, which carry your account id and are deleted automatically within two days; and the ordinary operations log, which is overwritten as it grows and starts over whenever the server is updated. Apple and Google keep their own records of any purchase. Your scan history is on your phone, not our server: Settings → Delete my data removes it, and so does deleting the app.

Emergencies

If someone has eaten, smoked or touched a plant and is unwell, call your local emergency number or a poison control centre. Do not wait for an app.
